What is Faith Community Nursing

Group 3
Faith Community Nursing (also known as Parish Nursing) continues the church's long-standing ministry of healing, rooted in the example of Christ and the early Christian commitment to care for the sick and vulnerable.
Faith Community Nursing is recognized and was designated by the American Nurses Association in 1997, as an autonomous nursing specialty.  It has its own Scope and Standards of Practice.  It is also guided by the American Nurses' Association's Code of Ethics and the State of Arizona Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurses.  It is a ministry that unites professional clinical expertise with God’s call to care for our bodies as temples of the holy spirit, and to care for one another.  Faith Community Nurses attend to the whole person—physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual—through health education, guidance, and   compassionate support.  This ministry promotes wellness and safety, prevents illness, provides resources, educates on disease self-management, and walks alongside individuals in times of need. Scriptures remind us that caring for our health is both good practice and faithful living.
Our Vision:
To inspire whole-person health—physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual—through Christ’s healing love and rooted in clinical expertise.
Our Mission:
We serve by providing health information/education, support, resources and prayerful care--promoting wellness and guiding our congregation in body, mind, and spirit.
Our Faith Community Nurse is a Board Certified, Integrated RN Case Manager. If you would like assistance and support to lose weight, to self-manage your chronic medical and/or mental health conditions, for assistance dealing with end-of-life issues/difficulties, or to navigate the complex health care delivery system, please contact Father Ory at (480) 836-4341(opens in new tab), and request to speak with our Faith Community Nurse.
Note: This page of the website, will post timely health articles and tips from credible health resources, and will be updated monthly.
